Beeswax is one of the seven treasures of Buddhism and is considered an aid to spiritual practice. In Tibetan Buddhism, high-ranking monks often wear beeswax prayer beads, believed to help calm the mind and focus the spirit. The 108 beads symbolize the elimination of 108 types of afflictions. The Prajna Sutra records that beeswax is often used as a sacred offering to Buddha, representing devotion to the Dharma and the pursuit of wisdom. From the “Classic of Mountains and Seas” claiming that “wearing it will prevent ailments” to folk customs, beeswax has been endowed with the power to ward off evil spirits. Its warm, lustrous sheen is considered a symbol of yang energy, protecting against negative energies.

It’s especially suitable for those who frequently travel or have weak constitutions. Traditional Chinese medicine texts such as the Compendium of Materia Medica describe beeswax as “calming the five internal organs and calming the soul.” Modern research has found that its succinic acid can alleviate symptoms such as insomnia and rheumatic pain. Wearing beeswax can absorb trace elements through the skin, improve blood circulation, and provide radiation protection, especially for those who frequently use electronic devices.

Precautions: Avoid high temperatures. Remove beeswax when bathing or applying makeup. After cleaning, dry with a soft cloth. Apply a small amount of olive oil to maintain the shine.
